Across two days, you’ll move from foundational understanding to applied auditing techniques through structured learning and realistic simulations.
Day 1
Foundation & Standard Requirements
The first day introduces participants to the aerospace quality management system framework, highlighting the connection between ISO 9001 and AS9100D, and why aerospace requires stricter standards. We begin with the fundamentals—scope, definitions, and structure of the standard—before moving into practical discussions on organizational context, stakeholder expectations, and defining the boundaries of a QMS.
As the day progresses, the focus shifts to leadership and planning requirements. Learners explore how management demonstrates commitment to product safety, ethical practices, and customer focus, while also understanding how risk-based thinking, quality objectives, and structured planning are critical for aerospace organizations. By the end of Day 1, participants will have a solid grounding in the standard’s foundation and the ability to assess leadership and planning practices during audits.
Day 2
Operations, Performance, and Audit Practice
The second day concentrates on the operational heart of AS9100D, covering supplier management, counterfeit part prevention, configuration control, and production processes. Participants learn how traceability, documentation, and robust controls ensure product safety in aerospace. The session also emphasizes auditing methods for nonconformities, process controls, and supplier oversight.
In the final part of the training, attention turns to performance evaluation and continual improvement. Participants practice reviewing management reviews, audit records, and customer feedback to identify risks and opportunities. The course concludes with a full audit simulation where learners apply their knowledge in a realistic scenario—planning, conducting, and reporting an internal audit. This hands-on exercise ensures that participants leave not only with theoretical understanding but also with the confidence to perform effective audits in their own organizations.

Karan Vig is a certified AS9100, AS9110, and AS9120 Aerospace Lead Auditor, approved by PROBITAS Authentication, with over 20 years of experience in aerospace, defense, and quality management systems.
His career spans roles with global certification bodies including Bureau Veritas, Intertek, SGS, and NQA, where he has conducted hundreds of audits across North America, Europe, and Asia. Karan is also a Certified ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, and a Certified Welding Inspector.
A former Chief Air Artificer in the Indian Navy, he has hands-on expertise in aircraft maintenance, modifications, and repair of helicopter structures and systems. Today, he leads Eurotech Assessment Canada, delivering aerospace quality services and training aligned with international standards.

Lead Auditor | Aerospace Quality Manager
Aaron Dalby is an accomplished quality manager and lead auditor with over 20 years of experience across ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9110, and AS9120 standards. He has held leadership roles in aerospace quality management, including serving as Manager of the Aerospace Sector at Smithers Quality Assessments, where he oversaw accreditation, training, and global audit delivery.
A certified Aerospace Industry Experience Auditor (AIEA) with PROBITAS Authentication, Aaron has conducted hundreds of audits in manufacturing, maintenance, distribution, and service industries. His career includes developing and upgrading QMS systems, leading auditor training programs, and supporting organizations in achieving and maintaining aerospace certifications.
Known for his practical audit approach, strong knowledge of risk management and corrective actions, and engaging teaching style, Aaron brings both depth of expertise and a collaborative mindset to training.
